Method
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels until they feel firm and the surface is moist but not wet, which helps the seasoning stick and prevents steaming.

- Pour olive oil over the chicken and rub it in evenly to coat all sides, ensuring a crispy exterior.
- Sprinkle salt, black pepper, herbs or spices, and lemon zest over the chicken breasts, then massage the seasonings into the meat for even coverage.
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for about 3 minutes to ensure even cooking and crisping from the start.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching to allow air to circulate freely and promote even browning.
- Cook the chicken for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through with tongs to ensure both sides develop a golden, crispy crust. Listen for a slight sizzle and watch for browning.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 75°C (165°F). If needed, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fully cooked.
- Remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and transfer them to a plate. Let them rest for 5 minutes to retain juices and improve tenderness.
- Slice into the chicken to verify a juicy interior with a slight crisp on the outside, then serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
